Blackburn, and all connected with the club, have breathed a huge sigh of relief after confirmation that Jordan Rhodes’ injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

After been forced off on a stretcher in our opening pre-season win at Accrington on Saturday, and leaving the Crown Ground on crutches and wearing a protective boot – more out of precaution you would have always thought anyway? – fears were raised he could have sustained a serious injury.

Fortunately the Official Website was able to confirm on Monday night scans had revealed no serious damage.

Worse case scenario is an absence of 7-10-days with rest!

It was also confirmed the Scottish striker isn’t going to join the squad for warm weather training in Portugal, he’ll remain in England and continue his rehab and get treatment on his ankle at Brockhall, which makes sense.

That’s one battle won, and positive news, now to try and win another and keep at bay the interest from other clubs in him….
