Rovers Takeover Still On

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Daniel Williams’ proposed takeover of Blackburn Rovers, and the fact that he might pull out of the running? But he insists he is still VERY much interested in completing his takeover of the club, and hopes to have this sorted by January.

Williams’ proposed takeover has been in the pipeline for several months now, with it originally hoped that it could have been concluded before the end of August so Mark Hughes could have had extra funds to strengthen the Rovers squad. This failed to happen as a series of events held up proceedings, which has left people questioning the deal, along with other talk that further business interests were in need of more of his attention. However, it is now hoped that the takeover will be concluded by January, with this then giving Hughes the extra funds that Williams so desperately wants to hand him.

Talking exclusively to the Lancashire Telegraph Williams said: “We are definitely still interested.

“We are still working behind the scenes to put everything together, and when we have done that, we will get back in touch with the club again.

“My personal plan is to try and get something done before January.

“At the moment, there’s not a mad scramble to try and get something done because the transfer window has just closed, and because of that, people are assuming the deal is dead.

“But that’s not the case at all
.”

The takeover talks have been ongoing for the best part of half a year now, and with nothing happening it has been a frustrating time for many fans, something that Williams can sympathise with and understand this but he stresses that any takeover will not be rushed as he could do little between now and January anyway.

He added: “I can understand the fans’ frustrations because this thing has gone back and forth

“At first, we didn’t think the club was doing its bit and they weren’t giving us enough information concerning a right and reasonable valuation.

“Then, more recently, we’ve been responsible for a lot of the delays because we haven’t been able to get everything together that the club has needed from us.

“It’s not as if the club is in financial peril. The Trustees are running Blackburn nicely, with John Williams as chairman, and if we came in between now and January what would we do? We’d still have John as chairman, and we’d be trying to run the club as well as the trustees have done.

“So there isn’t a massive urgency to get things done now, which has perhaps taken the pressure off a bit
.”

Personally I would expect this takeover to happen before the turn of the year, if it has not happened by then I don’t think it will, but I have confidence that it will, and it WILL be in the best interests of Rovers if/when it happens.
