Rovers Target Jason Koumas

The Lancashire Telegraph believes that Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes has targeted Jason Koumas as the man to fill the void left by Robbie Savage’s departure.

Koumas had been a target for Hughes last summer but the fee rose to a valuation WELL above what Rovers were prepared to pay, (and rightly so, it WAS to much) and he signed for Wigan Athletic for a fee of around £5 million from West Bromwich Albion. He started well, but has since found a first team place hard to command and since his signing Wigan have also changed managers and it is understood that Steve Bruce could be willing to part with the Welsh International.

Sparky knows Koumas very well from his time as the Welsh manager, and it was he that handed the 28-year-old his International debut and he has always been an admirer of his, so with Savage now gone and Aaron Mokoena taking part in the African Cup of Nations with South African Sparky could move for him again with a £3 million offer being mooted, however, this would be significantly lower than the price that Wigan paid just six-months ago so this probably wouldn’t be sufficient?!?!
