Rovers To Be Beaten To Smithies?

Blackburn Rovers are understood to be one of several clubs that will be beaten in the battle to land Huddersfield Town’s teenage goalkeeper Alex Smithies.

19-year-old Smithies is understood to be on the verge of completing a £2 million move to Everton, who have reportedly beaten us, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of the highly-rated youngster with Goodison Park understood to be Smithies preferred destination.

With Sam Allardyce taking a goalkeeper on trial recently and with these rumours of an interest in Smithies (who has represented England at various Youth International levels) it seems as though Allardyce isn’t happy with his goalkeeping options at Ewood Park, however, is Big Sam just looking for cover and competition for Paul Robinson or is he looking to replace Robbo, as it is understood (and constantly reported) by the media that he is???
