Rovers have had to postpone their scheduled trip to India this week due to safety concerns.

The lads had been expected to travel on Thursday to Pune to meet the Rovers owners and play a friendly against local side Pune FC.

But the tour has now been cancelled after the Mumbai bomb attacks last week which killed 20 people.

Several senior players voiced concerns about the potential risk and after all has been considered the trip has been postponed.

A joint statement from the club and the owners on the official Rovers website reads – ‘Safety is always our top priority and after detailed discussions with our security and legal advisors we have been left with no option other than to postpone.

While everyone is obviously disappointed, we all accept the circumstances and the reasoning. We are now looking forward to the trip to India in a few weeks time.’

The right call here where I sit. There is no merit in risking the lives of anyone.
