Rovers wait on Best scan

Blackburn Rovers are sweating today on injury news relating to new striker Leon Best who was fell down in agony during the first half of Rovers 2-1 friendly win over AEK Athens yesterday afternoon.

It is unclear whether the problem is related to either the knee or a ligament problem but there is the risk that Leon could be out for an extended period of time and send the club back into the transfer market for an extra signing they did not bank on making.

The blow was even harder to take as the injury came ten minutes after Leon’s first (unofficial) Rovers goal – a beautiful curling goal from the edge of the area after he’d chested down a long range Murphy pass.

But after spending three minutes on the floor clutching his leg he was taken to hospital for further tests with this afternoon likely to reveal the extent of the damage and the length of time Best could be out for.

Either way, this could be a big blow before the big kick off in 3 weeks time.
