Former Blackburn striker Rudy Gestede left to have his Premier League chance at Aston Villa. However, this didn’t really work out as planned as despite – like he seems to at all clubs – being a fans favourite at Villa Park he couldn’t hold down a regular first team place.

He also suffered relegation with Aston Villa but even the Championship return – where he was so effective for Blackburn to get his transfer – hasn’t seen him involved that often. It didn’t put Middlesbrough off though with them signing him this week.

It doesn’t appear Blackburn had a sell-on clause included in his deal when he joined Aston Villa though does it so there’s no Rovers benefit here! But good luck to Rudy at the Riverside Stadium.

Another former Blackburn player who could be on the move this month is Steven N’Zonzi who left England – having moved on from Rovers to Stoke – to join Sevilla in 2015. He’s been linked with a big money transfer to the Premier League.

Manchester City and Chelsea have been linked with him but according to the Sun Everton are the side to make the first move for him but this has proven unsuccessful as he doesn’t wish to go to Goodison Park.
