Ryan Nelsen has given Blackburn Rovers a timely boost by returning to training; he should be available for first team selection by the end of January.

Having been hampered by injuries since the tail end of last season the Admiral has been unable to play any part of the season thus far and underwent an operation on his hamstring injury in September. The New Zealand International is now back in training and Mark Hughes is obviously delighted, being hopeful of having him back playing by the end of January. Sparky said:

Ryan is now having some good sessions with the group. Obviously he is not allowed to sprint and go flat out. But he is looking like a footballer again, which we are all pleased about.

He is very positive and it is a case of building up the strength in the hamstring and the damaged area.

If he is back before the end of January we will be delighted.”

We don’t want to rush things, as if we do it will set him back and more than likely see him out for the season but hopefully he will be able to return before the timescale Sparky predicts, you know what these managers are like they almost always add a few weeks to the projected return of a player…
