After staying ten years at Real Madrid you would have thought a transfer to Blackburn would be something of a come down but after two years here it appears Michel Salgado is keen for another.

The Spaniard’s current contract runs out in the summer but he has expressed a desire to remain at Rovers and sign an extension that would take him past the age of 37.

Salgado was something of a slow starter as his Rovers career didn’t kick into gear straight off the bat but after a shaky start has been a model of consistency and a great example to the other players… he is even something of an ambassador for the club as well.

Want to hear more from someone much more interesting than myself? Thought so, well I’m not one to disappoint –

Salgado explained to Sky Sports News – ‘I have to thank Sam, he was one of the main reasons I came to England and signed here.

‘I am enjoying the Premier League and enjoying Blackburn. It’s about a new manager, new owners and the fans.

‘But if it’s about the lifestyle, enjoying the Premier League and enjoying Blackburn, then I am really happy here.

‘In the Premier League it’s very physical. I am feeling fit and I can recover and still enjoy it.

‘One of the main reasons I’d like to stay and have one more year is because we have a little more chance to do something big.’

Kean, Venkys, you are up lads…
