Michel Salgado is going to try and grab the bull by the horns and play on as long as possible.

Salgado signed a two year deal at the club last summer but sees no reason why he can’t keep going – legs withstanding.

After a slow start to life at Ewood Park, my Spanish first namesake made the right back spot his own with some dogged and hell for leather displays.

I’ll hand you over to the Tugay look-a-like himself to clarify things.

Michel told the Lancashire Telegraph: “It depends on the legs as to how long I will keep playing.

‘I am fit, I can improve next year. Now I know the tempo of the league, I know my mates and I know the team.

‘I can do the pre-season which I couldn`t do last year.

“Then maybe I can keep going after that. We will see, the first thing is to start the season, play well and build a team to try to do something big.

“For sure this a good club for players like me. I can advise players from Spain to come here and enjoy a different league with a good style of life that is different to Spain.

“You can work easily here at Blackburn. You come to the training ground and you only work, it professional.

‘In Spain it is more press and fans and everything is different.”

So just to repeat, Blackburn is better than the whole of Spain. You heard it here first.
