Sam gets Frank about Franco

Big Sam is a pleased man today as Franco Di Santo will be with us for the rest of the current campaign.

But Sam has stressed that much work is ahead of the young Argentine, even the rest of his career could be defined by his stint in East Lancashire.

Allardyce, speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph said – “His whole career at Chelsea depends on what he does at Blackburn Rovers. He is going to determine his whole future by the end of the season.

“He is going to determine where his career goes. We know that, he knows that and Chelsea know that.

“No matter what you get a player for and what the motivation is, as long as the motivation is to do your best then that is all you want.

“I think we all felt this was best for him. He might have gone back to Chelsea initially and played some games because of the African Nations Cup but when they come back he would have been frustrated by maybe dropping down to the bench again.

“We are quite happy to have a young man with the enthusiasm and energy he has got. He has been one our of our four front man.”

Big Sam has stressed though that Franco NEEDS to start weighing in with some goals sooner rather than later, otherwise he will be forced to use the other strikers in the squad.

Di Santo has been a hit with fans but his only short coming so far has been his lack of onion bag ripping.

Sam the man continued – “I don`t think the uncertainty has bothered Franco too much, When you go to Chile at 14 and leave your home, I don`t think much bothers you. His enjoyment here in Blackburn Rovers is, as frustrated as he is that he isn`t getting more goals than he wanted, he is getting more first team football than at Chelsea.

“When you start playing your football at such an early age as he had, then that is what you want to do. You don`t want to be sat on the bench, you don`t want to be just in the squad.

“Eventually he has to start scoring goals though. Eventually I can`t continue to support him if he doesn`t start getting a goal or two.

It is one of our particular problems, if not the biggest problem, and we have to find someone to rectify that problem. Whether it be him, Benni, Jason, Niko, Morten, Dioufy, Junior, Brett.

“Someone has to do it. It was Dunny and we have lost him and no one has taken up the mantle and carried on. Dunny scored and created, nobody has carried on producing goals on a regular basis and that is our biggest worry.”

In a statement that hopefully shows that Sam is not as out of touch with the fans as some may believe, Big Sam continued to stress that Franco has not been as up to par in terms of chances to goals ratio.

Allardyce added – “I think Franco needs one to go in. Maybe he needs a fluker. It is not as though he is not getting the chances, we have seen a number of key opportunities he has had and he hasn`t put the chances away.

“Like every other front man it preys more and more on the mind. At least you are getting in there and creating the chances.

Whatever you try and comfort them with they will still go home and worry.”
