Samba behind half time pep talk

It has come to light that a stirring half time team talk from the senior players in the camp helped turned the tide that was building up against Blackburn Rovers during their match with Blackpool.

Chris Samba was leading the charge and chipped in with the captains speech (similar to Scott Parker with West Ham the other week) which lent support to under fire manager Steve Kean.

With even his own fans chanting “you’re getting sacked in the morning” at him and his players showing little fight it would have been easy for Kean to chuck in the towel but instead the troops rallied.

Chris is quoted in the Daily Star – “We just said this wasn`t a time to sit back and feel sorry for ourselves.

“We had no choice but to get back out there and show we are better than we were in the first half.

“It was time for us to do something. We were playing for the future of this club and also for our own futures in the Premier League.

“So it was time to go back on the pitch and give everything.

“It wasn`t just the manager, it was myself and some of the senior players – we needed to speak up.

“I was here a couple of years ago when we showed a lot of fight and got out of the relegation zone. A few of us know what it takes to do that and we had to show the younger players.”

Nice to see the experienced players leading from the front, shows Samba is captain material.
