Rovers captain Chris Samba has told his Rovers colleagues to be more ruthless and score the goals needed to turn good performances into wins.

Rovers battled like trojans on Monday night against Man City but came up short due to their slackness in front of goal, but Samba believes a change of approach and hard work can see the job done.

The Rovers skipper told the Lancashire Telegraph – “We have things in our own hands and we need to prepare this week to be very, very hard on Bolton, to put them under pressure and that is what we are going to do’

“We are going to be focused, we will work very hard on the pressing and we can make sure we get those three points. There is no alternative now.

“We played well against Manchester City but we were beaten. We had a few chances compared to their one chance that wasn`t really a chance.

“When you lose after a performance at Everton you can be very down but we have to be positive. I don’t like using this word because at the end of the day we would prefer to play bad and win.

“But the reality is we played good again and lost. So we need to learn how to put the ball into the back of the net.

“We won’t win games if we don’t score goals.”

Samba has also called on the fans to get behind the side again after a big effort from the faithful on Monday.

The players were understandably down after the match on Monday but the big man knows they’ll have to pick themselves up again as Bolton has now turned in to the biggest game of this season.

Kong continued – “We need to go again and we need to say if we play with the same intensity and the same concentration and still have the fans behind us, we have to believe. We are still out of the bad zone.

“The dressing room was down after the game on Monday because that was difficult to take.

“We should never have lost that game, we should at least have got a point.

“We are disappointed because we showed great intensity, we put a lot of pressure on them. We resisted first half and then we came back and we started how we finished in the second half.

“We had a 20-minute spell in the second half where we should have scored a goal and that would have made sure we didn’t lose the game at least.

“We didn’t do it. We paid for one mistake. We lost the ball in the middle, made a bad clearance and it is in the back of the net.”
