Rovers beast at the back Chris Samba has relieved any fears that Blackburn will take their foot off the gas in the big match on Sunday by insisting that although the relegation battle is almost done with… that doesn’t mean Rovers won’t fight tooth and nail to win the game for themselves and tha fans.

Burnley, the opponents, are deep in the brown stuff but Samba is quick to dismiss the notion that Burnley will be more up for the game than the Kings of East Lancashire.

Samba, speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph said – “We won`t be less motivated than them for the game,”

“Obviously it will be more difficult for them because they have to get a result.

“But`s that not that bad because they will really go forward and create a lot of space, so we will just try to play on the counter attack and get something.

“The game is a special one for us and for the fans, so I want to go and give a good performance there.

“Of course Burnley are fighting relegation, but as rivals we won`t help them.

“We`re going to be there if possible to take three points and keep them where they are.

“The win against Burnley at home was one of the highlights of the season, but it would be even better if we could do it over there.”

Samba was part of the Rovers defence that triumphed 3-2 in October at Ewood Park but admits that this time round at Turf Moor will be a totally different kettle of fish.

Despite the hostile atmopshere that awaits, Samba is more bothered about trying to get an away win. Something Rovers have struggled with all year.

Samba continued – “It doesn`t affect us,”

“We just play football and concentrate on the game.

“What happens outside of the pitch, we try to ignore it and just play our game.

“I just want to win an away game, because we have been poor with that.

“It has been the major concern of the season, why we cannot repeat what we do at home when we`re away.

“The last two seasons have not been great for us away from home and we need to work on it and try to be more difficult to beat away and cut out the mistakes.”

“People expect us to go on holiday but we still have games and we still want to finish as high as possible and be in the top half of the table,” he said.

“We are going to stay focused and take every game seriously.

“A lot of games are winnable so we want to go and play our best.”

Well said King Kong of the Congo!
