Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Ince could be given a timely boost with the news that Roque Santa Cruz could be in line for a surprise return from injury in time for the match with Chelsea.

Santa Cruz suffered a calf injury prior to the match with Aston Villa last week and the striker was expected to be out until our Premier League meeting with Sunderland (a week Saturday) but according to reports in the Lancashire Telegraph the Paraguayan International is making good progress in his recovery and could be fit to face Chelsea on Sunday. If Santa is ready then his return will be very timely with Benni McCarthy suspended following his unbelievable sending off against West Bromwich Albion last Saturday.

Further good news for Ince (as the injuries mount up) is the double news that Andre Ooijer should also be fit to return against Chelsea and Brett Emerton’s hamstring injury isn’t as bad as first thought. The Australian will definitely miss the Chelsea match but could be fit in time to face Sunderland, when he had been expected to be out for up to four weeks.
