Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa has admitted that at half time Rovers didn’t look like beating Portsmouth, but the half time break saw things changed before he scored the winning goal.

Rovers were like a different team in the second half at Fratton Park on Sunday afternoon according to Santa Cruz and this eventually enabled him to score the winning goal to earn Rovers a MUCH needed three points.

Santa Cruz told Sky Sports: “I think we saw how the game was, we hadn’t played well enough to win the game.

“I think we went in (at half-time) and remembered we’re playing for a lot of things today and then we were a different team.

“It was nice play by Morten (Gamst Pedersen), me and Robbo and I think it was a great finish as well
.”

The goal leaves Rovers with a chance (albeit an outside chance) of qualifying for the UEFA Cup next season, and this pleases the Paraguayan International.

He added: “It gives us chance to keep fighting for a place in Europe and we will until the end.

“It was our main business for this season. It’s nice in the last two games that we still have something to fight for
.”
