Savage Not Surprised At Cup Draw

The FA Cup Semi-Final draw that saw Chelsea and Manchester United drawn apart (assuming both come through their replays?) didn’t surprise Blackburn Rovers midfielder Robbie Savage.

The draw is being met by great scepticism by many people as the “Dream Final” for the FA at the newly refurbish Wembley would be Chelsea verses Manchester United, and the draw sees this still very much possible. Speaking to Sky Sports News Savage said:

I said it on the TV, I said I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t draw Watford. Some of the boys said it as well, we felt we wouldn’t get Watford.

I think Watford would have liked to have got Blackburn but it wasn’t to be.

It could be Tottenham or Chelsea, the lads did fantastically yesterday, each and every one of them, and they’ll give it a good go and there’s no reason the way we’re playing at the moment that we couldn’t beat one of those two teams.

It’s not the best draw for us but, for the neutral, Man United and Chelsea have been kept apart and, if I’m being honest, I suppose for the first game at Wembley everybody would like to see United and Chelsea so it’s up to Blackburn, Tottenham or Watford to make that not happen.

We’ve had the hardest cup run of all the teams and to get this far is a credit to all the boys who have taken part but it’s just disappointing. I said Watford and Blackburn wouldn’t be a semi-final and it’s amazing how that happens every single year.”

Our Semi-Final, which will take place on April 14th or 15th, could see Savage with an outside chance of returning.
