Savage On Cusp Of Derby Move

Robbie Savage is on his way to Derby, after Blackburn late last night accepted a £2million bid for the midfield battler.

Savage has agreed to move to Paul Jewell’s club after the Rams came up with cash Rovers demanded, and Sunderland have refused to increase their offer from the original £1m they bid.

Welsh international Savage will sign a two-and-a-half year deal at Pride Park, happy to accept the mission impossible challenge of keeping them up.

Realistically, Jewell sees Savage, 33, as the type of on-field leader to bring the club back to the Premier League at the first time of asking next season.

It is expected Derby will pay £1.5m up front and further cash based on appearances and status in the Premier League.

A deal is expected to be concluded this evening.
