Savage Set For Quick Rovers Return?

After breaking his leg against Watford at the end of January Blackburn Rovers midfielder Robbie Savage looked set to miss the remainder of the season, but this might not be the case.

Recently manager Mark Hughes, chairman John Williams and Savage himself had all spoken about the possibility of Savage returning towards the very end of the season but if all goes well the fiery Welshman could return in two or three weeks!

Savage has had scans on his leg and is expected to be given the all clear to resume jogging, which should this happen he could then step up his recovery and maybe be in line for the FA Cup Semi-Final’s (should we make it) and the vital closing weeks of the Premiership season. Hughes said:

Robbie is doing well, but we don’t want to set deadlines in case he misses them and is disappointed.”

A Savage return and ahead of schedule would be a massive boost for our Euorpean push via the League and Cup, which all being well we will still be going for both by that time?

Meanwhile Hughes is again doing what he likes to do the most, handing out trials to players looking to earn themselves permanent deals with the club.

The players being given trials at Ewood Park are teenagers Ashley Day and Ged Dalton. 17-year-old Day currently plays for Westfields in the Midland Alliance League and 16-year-old Dalton is Scarborough’s youngest ever goalscorer. Liverpool and Birmingham are also said to be keen on the pair.
