Blackburn Rovers Manager Gary Bowyer is now left with a real dilemma against Sheffield Wednesday next Saturday following the impressive performance from Simon Eastwood.

Due to Jason Steele being ineligible to face his parent club Middlesbrough Bowyer had to make a change in goal. It was his decision to bring in Eastwood with Jake Kean sitting on the substitutes bench and Paul Robinson nowhere in sight (I think we can safely say that Robinson’s gone in January!!) and this decision was rewarded with Eastwood pulling off some superb saves, the pick of them an incredible save to keep our Jelle Vossen’s powerful second half header from close range.

Bowyer said: “Simon Eastwood’s save to stop Vossen was unbelievable and it was save of the season for me.

“It had goal written all over it. It was bang on the head from close range but he never gave up on it.

Opposing Manager Karanka paid tribute to Eastwood too, however he also said “it said everything that their man of the match was their keeper” with him convinced his side should’ve won. If you can’t stick the ball in the onion bag though it’ll not happen!!

Well played Simon, without a first-team appearance since January to step up like you did and perform in such a manor deserves credit and he’d be right to feel a little aggrieved if he isn’t retained when we take on Wednesday at Ewood Park next time out.

Do you think Steele will come straight back in or should Easty get another chance??
