Vital Blackburn’s most recent Poll asked you “Which Ewood star has succeeded the most since moving on?” You feel Alan Shearer.

This poll suggested by Vital Blackburn member govtpros sees Alan Shearer with 65% voted the player who succeeded most after leaving Ewood Park for Newcastle United in 1996 for £15 million. Damien Duff who left for Chelsea in 2003 for an even bigger fee of £17 million was voted in second with 25%.

The final four names all came within close proximity of each other. Chris Sutton, now with Aston Villa gained 4%. He left for Chelsea for £10 million in 1999 for a disappointing spell eventually enjoyed much success with.

Craig Bellamy has only recently joined Liverpool in the summer of 2006 so his 3% is understandable to date; this could and probably will increase given time.

Tim Sherwood gained 2%. He may have played for England and maybe even won the League Cup with Tottenham Hotspur (I’m not certain though?) He did win promotion with Portsmouth but failed to represent them in the Premiership.

Jason Wilcox gained the final 1%. He may have represented England during his time with Leeds United, having a few good Premiership season’s with them and playing in the Champions League. You could argue that maybe injuries ravaged his career after Ewood Park though?

So in summary
Tim Sherwood – 2%
Damien Duff – 25%
Jason Wilcox – 1%
Alan Shearer – 65%
Craig Bellamy – 3%
Chris Sutton – 4%

You can see why Alan Shearer gained the most votes but he didn’t actually win anything with Newcastle did he, whereas Damien Duff won back-to-back Premiership Titles and the Carling Cup with Chelsea, however he did struggle to hold down a first team place at times.

The current poll is asking, “What are Rovers most likely to win this season?

As for what you think, cast your vote, and why not have your say on the latest polls findings…
