Blackburn Rovers legend Alan Shearer COULD be tempted by the prospect of returning to Ewood Park as the clubs next manager, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

The local newspaper is reporting that Shearer (who is the hands down fans favourite to get the job) is understood to be prepared to listen to John Williams to find out what the clubs plans are for the future and he COULD be prepared to give up his punditry job with the BBC to return to Ewood, having left for Newcastle United in 1995 for £15 million when he was a player.

Williams, and the rest of the Board (who are understood to be very pleased with the names interested in the vacant job) will meet on Monday to start discussing the candidates that have currently expressed an interest and will start stepping up the efforts to appoint Mark Hughes’ successor.
