Shebby Singh joins the circus

Blackburn Rovers have appointed a Director of Football (under a rather silly different title) in the shape of Shebby Singh.

Singh has done some work for Venky’s in a more casual sense in the past but has now been a appointed as a go between for Blackburn and India as the club look to reshape ahead of the Championship season.

Shebby is a former Asian TV pundit and an extrovert by all accounts who certainly has personality to go with the role.

He did however get off to a rather poor start by delivering the news that Rovers manager Steve Kean will be kept in charge going against his record, his visible abilities and even the most basic forms of common sense.

Singh said in a statement – ‘Everyone starts with a clean slate. We`ve still got to look at the other qualities Steve has got.

‘At this moment it is going to be difficult for the fans to think nothing has changed but we would like to regroup and try to take this team forward.`

Singh’s outlook on Kean is however a complete contradiction of comments made in an article for a Singapore newspaper only last month.

Then Singh had written off Kean’s chances of leading Rovers back to the top division, quite the turnaround I think we can al agree.

Singh on May 9th wrote – ‘Steve Kean is obviously not the man to lead Blackburn Rovers back to the Premiership.

‘They were tactically naive with a lightweight team that were too easily brushed aside at times. Then, there were a number of players who were past their prime.

‘But there`s no use wallowing in self-pity and the club need to move on quickly.`

Everyone I speak to is under the assumption that Shebby Singh is total bonkers which is not exactly the type of things one looks for in a senior role at a football club.

It does however mean he’ll fit in a dream at Ewood Park.
