Sheffield United’s Lenihan Interest?

Blackburn could face a battle to retain the services of Darragh Lenihan this summer.

However, unlike the bid to keep Connor Mahoney, who turned down a new deal to join Bournemouth, Rovers’ advantage with Lenihan is the fact the Sheffield United target is under contract at Ewood Park.

Tony Mowbray doesn’t want to lose the defender, reportedly not too keen on playing in League One this season, but his counterpart at Bramall Lane, Chris Wilder, will continue his interest, according to our friends at Vital Sheffield United:

Meanwhile, United’s bid to bring in further players this summer has seen two bids for Blackburn defender Darragh Lenihan turned down, according to Sky Sports.

It is claimed an offer of £400,000 was increased to £500,000 plus add-ons but Blackburn want to keep the defender, who apparently wants to remain in the Championship, so have turned down these offers.

Wilder, who could also look to bring in free agent Mike Williamson following his release by Wolves, retains an interest in Lenihan, 23, and is ‘expected to make another offer.’

The loss of Mahoney was disappointing, yet expected. But an exit of Lenihan, who has made over 100 appearances for Blackburn since his breakthrough, would be a major setback ahead of the new season.

Hopefully these rumours don’t amount to anything and the defender DOES want to stay at Rovers.
