Blackburn Rovers skipper Ryan Nelsen believes is it no surprise at all that other clubs want Mark Hughes to manage them, with a move Chelsea, or more likely Manchester City almost certain.

Nelsen feels that it was inevitable that other clubs would want Hughes after the superb job that he has done since he arrived at Ewood Park, and although he fears for the worse now that he is being interviewed by Man City he is not giving up all hope that he will still be our manager next season.

Nelsen told BBC Radio Lancashire: “You fear the worst but it is only an interview and nothing’s set in stone.

“But with what he’s done at Blackburn it was always going to happen.

“What he’s done for both me and Blackburn is incredible.

“He has made the players feel we could go even higher and that’s why we were disappointed to come seventh in the Premier League.

“But there’s a lot of bigger clubs who would have loved to finish that high, so we’re looking to improve further next season. As far as I’m concerned there’s still unfinished business here
.”

Sparky looks a near certainty to take over at Man City with Chelsea looking like appointing AC Milan’s Carlo Ancelotti but even if Sparky does leave Ewood God doesn’t feel this necessarily has to mean a host of players following him.

The New Zealand International added: “We’re all contracted to Blackburn, it’s as simple as that. We all love coming into work and we all love playing for the club. So we’re really happy at what we do.

“I can’t talk for other players about what they might want to do in the future, but I certainly know on the last day of the season we were all happy
.”

If only having a contract did mean something in this day and age God, it might mean something to him but personally I feel that should Sparky leave (and I’m almost resigned to it now) players will follow him, quite literally???
