So Called Rovers Ins And Outs!!!

It must be a quiet news day today for the media as Blackburn Rovers strikers Roque Santa Cruz and Matt Derbyshire are BOTH being mooted with move to Manchester City. Whereas any thought that Brian Howard could come to Ewood Park this summer seems to have been dispelled.

Despite the fact that there is a good chance he might not even be with Man City next season (as CRAZY as it sounds as he SHOULD be!!!) Sven Goran Eriksson is being credited with being interested in Santa Cruz and Derbyshire, with an amount of £11 million being suggested!!! EVEN if there were any truth in this (which I doubt almost 100% that there isn’t) £11 million wouldn’t even buy Santa let alone the Paraguayan AND Derbs. Next please!!!

Coming in the other direction (if he was even ever going too) will not be Barnsley skipper Howard, as the Barnsley FA Cup hero has spelt out his desire to stay with the club and wants to sign a new contract. With Rovers and Everton both claimed to be interested I’m sure the Yorkshire club will want this to ward of any possible interest.

Howard told Sky Sports: “I’m happy at Barnsley.

“I like it there. I’m under contract for another year and I enjoying my football there. Obviously it’s been a great season and I’m happy to stay there.

“I’m club captain, which I enjoy a lot and am privileged to have, and I’m enjoying my football and we’ll see what happens.

“I’ve got a year left on my deal, but hopefully the club will come and we’ll talk soon
.”

Santa and Derbs’ move was being billed as “a sensational double swoop”, it would be exactly that but there is probably more chance of me donning a Rovers shirt next season than there is these two playing for Man City next season!!! Howard is a good footballer, but if he is happy to stay with the Tykes then I’m happy with that as well in all truth.
