Whilst being on an enforced layoff due to family reasons, i stumbled across a link on the ESPN website. Every year, ESPN release who they think are the seasons top 10 and worst 10 buys of the English Premier League.

Over the past few years, we have had names such as David Bentley, Chris Samba, Craig Bellamy, Benni McCarthy. For the third year running, we have the best buy of the year, ROQUE SANTA CRUZ.

It is great that the club can get such recognition, congrats to Sparky, congrats to Roque and congrats to the rest of the squad

Here is a link to the top 10 on the ESPN website. ESPN top 10

  • Great stuff from Sparky again, he really does have an eye for a bargain… also bearing in mind that the words “bargain” and “striker” rarely come in the same sentence.

  • No denying Sparky knows how to pick em. Let’s hope for a couple, maybe three top signings this summer if he is given a bit of a budget!

  • I think this must have been one of the easiest ESPN article to write! Final decision never in doubt. Although I think I would have ahd Martin Petrov as second. Other clubs must look at our squad and wonder where their money goes

  • It seems Sparky knows exactly what to look on a striker. I mean, if we go to theory, it seems easy, but getting the best buy with fewer money than everybody it’s quite much! Let see what’t the rabbit Sparky takes out of his hat this season!

  • I cant wait… Although I sincerely believe that if J-Rob stays then we dont need another striker. Right back and centre mid please.

  • every year we all hope and pray that we get to keep our best players over the summer months, this year will be no different with santa cruz and bentley in demand, however i feel that it is far more important that we keep hold of mark hughes as our manager, he has proven himself time and time again in the transfer market and in his ability to keep players fit (roque being a prime example of such)

  • FN1.: Like Francesco Totti, Kaka or Ronaldinho?

I like Pablo Aimar, he must not be very expensive, and he has been in Spain for too long now. Currently he is ar Zaragoza, wich is about tho be relegated to the second cathegory. I think he needs a new enviroment to find his best football againg. He is talented, goal scorer and 28 years old. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pablo_Aimar

  • Thats a good shout that diegoveron… I like the sound of that. I wonder how many other clubs would be sniffing round him though???
