Sparky Looking To End Chelsea Record

Many would scoff at the thought of Blackburn Rovers ending Chelsea’s unbelievable unbeaten home record, but this could happen so anyone writing this off had better beware.

This is not to say that Rovers WILL beat Chelsea, as to go into such a match with that thought fully in your head against a team full of unquestionable world-class performers would be ludicrous and would only set you up for one hell of a fall, but it could very well happen! Chelsea have to lose at Stamford Bridge sometime so why shouldn’t Rovers be the team to end their amazing 65-game unbeaten home running, stretching back over three-years to February 2004, incredible isn`t it!!!

Rovers manager Mark Hughes feels Rovers could be this team to end that run, he told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “The last time we were beaten was in the cup semi-final against Chelsea and obviously we are up against them again.

“It is a big ask, because they’ve got a fantastic home record, but it is there to be broken.

“The way we are playing at the moment – with a lot of confidence, a lot of ability and a real threat at the opposition goal – I think if anybody can possibly test Chelsea it certainly could be us.

“We are going there in good heart and I think you have to be confident when you go to places like Chelsea and Manchester United etc. We’ve always tried to test ourselves against the best and that is what we’ll try and do again.

“Prior to Jose Mourinho going to the club, Blackburn’s record at Chelsea was very, very good, so we’d hopefully like to make inroads into their home league form. It is a fantastic record that they have, but it is there to be broken and why can’t we be the team that does it?

Rovers performed superbly in the FA Cup Semi Final between the two sides last season, which earned Rovers much respect from Chelsea (especially from our friends at Vital Chelsea) so although this is not at a neutral ground (as neutral as Old Trafford could have been!) and Stamford Bridge is beyond a fortress if anyone writes Rovers off it will be at their own peril. However, at the same time anyone overly confident that Rovers WILL win at Stamford Bridge again could be in for a VERY, VERY large slice of humble pie!!!
