Speculation linking Jordan Rhodes with a Blackburn Rovers exit have been common since he arrived at Ewood Park.

Rhodes has arguably (in my opinion) been our best signing since Alan Shearer all those years ago with him easily the best striker we’ve had since (and also likely to have for sometime to come too) with the £8million we spent on him definitely money well spent.

Ben Marshall (another that’s catching the eye himself) believes that this speculation has little effect on Rhodes and drives him on, with him now hopefully that having fended off the advances of Hull City over the summer that he’ll keep doing what he does best!!

Marshall told The Lancashire Telegraph: “Jordan’s the kind of lad who doesn’t let anything bother him, he just gets on with it.

“He’s just a down-to-earth lad. He didn’t go anywhere so he’s just got on with it and done his job.

“Of course it was a massive boost to keep him – we all didn’t want him to go. He’s here now so hopefully he can push on keep getting the goals.

We know all too well that if we’re not there or thereabouts in January we’ll be in a position again where Premier League clubs could be tempted to try and lure him away from Ewood (however, he’ll cost at least £15million!!), particularly if he keeps scoring.

However, if he does keep scoring the likelihood is that we’ll be going along nicely in the Championship so he could still make that step up to the Premier League with us, which is something that I’ve always felt he had a very good chance of going. If it’s not this season though I don’t think we’ll have the Scottish International with us next season even though he signed his long-term contract over the summer.
