Stale Draw at West Ham

The goals just weren’t big enough for both teams, with both sides counting their chickens after missing chances to gain a valuable 3 points

Christopher Samba returned to the starting line up after serving a 1 match suspension, whilst on song striker, Nikola Kalinic held his starting spot as the lone striker.

Without being too negative, the first half was an epic bore. 1 decent strike on goal in 45 minutes, with Morten Gamst Pedersen’s sweetly struck free kicking striking the woodwork 40 minutes in. Apart from this rare opportunity, a real dull first half.

The second half started relatively quietly, almost sending yours truly to sleep. However, play started to liven up in the 60th minute. West Ham, buoyed by the return of Carlton Cole, started to apply the pressure on the Rovers goal. Succesive corners were cleared by Ryan Nelsen, whilst Cole tried his luck from distance, over and out….

Blackburn could then count themselves unlucky. After a goal mouth scramble, Gael Givet toe poked towards goal, with his effort cleared off the line in a desperate last ditch lunge. Martin Olsson tried his luck from just outide the 18 yard box, his powerful drive tipped over the goal.

Blackburn’s best opportunity came through Jason ‘couldnt score in a brothel’ Roberts. The powerful striker brilliantly turned his man after recieving a long ball, however, once through 1 on 1 with the keeper, his tame attempt of shooting the ball into the back of the net, was easily saved…..

West Ham almost nicked the points late, however Robinson was on hand to tip Diamanti’s 25 yard swerving free kick over the goal.

0-0 it ended, with Blackburn having the better of the chances, 2 points dropped really…..

Player Ratings

Paul Robinson 7
Great save late in the game, apart from that, not really tested

Blackburn Back 4….
Dont think they will ever get an easier pay day all season. Cleared corners well, apart from that, West Ham really had nothing coming forward…..A Clean Sheet, well done

Martin Olsson 7.5
The young lad is starting to hold down a first team spot, something many of us would have scoffed at last season. Kudo’s to the kid, he can strike at goal as well so hopefully a few goals will assist the cause

Morten Gamst Pedersen 6
Slightly off his game today, but I’ll take todays performance over 80% of this season any day of the week. Wasted a few set pieces, well a few more then a few

Brett Emerton 5
Poor quiet game from Emerton. Been a tad inconsistent since returning from injury, hopefully the lad can regain his form

Steven Nzonzi 6
Solid in defence, though very slow in attack. Really needs to start distributing the ball much quicker, either out wide or up front

El Hadji Diouf……3
84 minutes of rubbish. Surely we can sell him before this window closes….what on earth was that Diouf!

Nikola Kalinic 6.5
Toiled hard, but not as effective as normal. Couldnt penetrate the defence, mainly because he was working for 2…..

Keith Andrews
Still cant pass

Jason Roberts
Still cant score
Needs more time out there!
