Accrington Stanley, with all due respect, wouldn’t be the first choice club that many have but for David Dunn this is a move that he would be more than happy with. In fact he’s told the BBC that he would ‘love a stint’ playing for them.

Dunn’s Blackburn departure, ending a long-term association with the club, was unsurprisingly confirmed recently with him now looking for the next chapter in his career, which could prove to be the final one?

With him a regular at the Crown Ground, at the club he regards as his ‘second team,’ the 35-year-old has revealed that he would be interested in signing for the League 2 outfit if possible….

‘I go and watch Accrington as much as I can – I would say they are probably my second team.

‘So why not, if the opportunity arose and it was right with everybody?’

The sticking point of such a move, despite the fact that he’s got a good relationship with the manager and assistant manager, could be the financial aspects of such a move due to the fact that Accrington wouldn’t be able to get anywhere near to his current wages.

He would obviously know this anyway but they’ve also got one of the smallest budgets in the entire Football League! His options are being kept open though with the move he makes one that has to be right not only for him but for his family too.

‘I’ve got a decent relationship with (manager) John Coleman and (assistant manager) Jimmy Bell so if it happens it’s something I’ll look at.

‘Whether it is this time or next time, I don’t know – I’ve got to keep my options open and see what’s the best thing, for not just myself but my family as well.’

Whatever he does next and wherever Dunn ends up this Blackburn legend will never be forgotten will he!
