That’s the message (stick together) from Jason Steele anyway; who feels the fortunes at Ewood Park will change for the better if we do.
Steele believes Blackburn were ‘by far the better team’ against Aston Villa in the first half at the weekend but a change in the second half ‘came back to haunt’ Rovers with a two-one defeat the eventual outcome.
He did admit to rovers.co.uk he had to make ‘a couple of saves’ after Aston Villa equalised with the winning goal a ‘good’ one:
‘At 1-1 I probably only had a couple of saves, but to be fair the second goal is a good goal. It`s a hell of a pass and it`s a great touch as well across Lowey and he`s put it in off the post.’
The ‘keeper wasn’t any less disappointed though but feels if heads stay up it’ll be a ‘matter of time’ before Blackburn’s luck changes, Steele continued.
‘We`re bitterly disappointed, but we`ve got to keep our heads up because it`s surely only a matter of time before we start beating teams.’
This is when Steel called upon the squad to remain the spirit he says is strong within it.
‘It`s obviously really hard to take, but we`ve all got to take it on the chin and keep plugging away and keep sticking together,” he added. “That`s the main thing, because at some point it will change. The group in there is a close-knit group, we`ve just got to stick together and hopefully it will pass us by.’
The international is now upon us with Blackburn, aside from the U23 fixture in the EFL Trophy, without a match until 18th November as a result.
During this time Steele went on to add we’ve quite simply got to ‘work hard’ and look to ‘make our own luck.’
