Interest from clubs in Jordan Rhodes isn’t new, last summer it was Hull but it was a relatively quiet January! Rumour has it it’ll be Sheffield Wednesday in for him at the end of the season?

Reports in the Daily Star over the weekend said that they would ‘launch a staggering £12m move’ for Rhodes in the summer with him viewed as the ’20-plus goal’ man that Stuart Gray knows his side need to challenge for promotion.

Gray didn’t name Rhodes by name, nor did any ‘sources’ claim anything, but he would fit the profile.

‘Look at the teams who achieved promotion out of the Championship last year and what their strikers delivered for them.

‘Burnley had Danny Ings, QPR had Charlie Austin and Leicester had David Nugent. All three of them got 20-plus goals.’

Maybe the fact that Rhodes’ father, Andy, is the goalkeeping coach at Sheffield Wednesday has something to do with these reports – that or the fact that Dejphon Chansiri recently completed a £37.5m takeover at Hillsborough, and is targeting a return to the topflight by 2017, see this but I’m not so sure?

Rhodes could leave Blackburn in the summer, we’ll certainly see interest anyway, but whilst I’m not completely clued up on the FFP rulings in place I’m not so sure that a £12m move for Rhodes, and you would suspect others, would allow them to fall in line with FFP would it….

We’ll keep an eye on this but I’m not so sure I would put too much money on him ending up at Hillsborough, would you?
