Ideally we wouldn’t want Jordan Rhodes or Rudy Gestede to leave, they seem likely to do so but after failed loan spells with Derby and Brighton last season Leon Best looks destined to remain at Ewood Park until his contract expires.

The £3m signing from Newcastle in the summer of 2012 has officially been ‘available for transfer’ since May 2014 but we’ve had no takers although Derby signed him up on a season-long loan last summer but sent him back in January! Best was then picked up by his former Newcastle manager Chris Hughton, who took him to Brighton for the second half of the season.

Neither spell was successful….

During his time with Derby he made only three starts and 17 appearances as a sub, without scoring. He also failed to score in 13 appearances for Brighton with it seemingly unlikely Hughton wants to sign him permanently and nor does anyone else for that matter.

Previously we’ve agreed settlement deals with players in the final year of their contracts, the Lancashire Telegraph reports that we had tried this with the 28-year-old but an agreement couldn’t be reached to settle the final year of his ‘lucrative deal’ either so he’ll either stay and maybe play, stay and do nothing or we’ll look to find a buyer for him at the very least find a club to loan him again?

Should he see out the final year of his contract, having made just 16 appearances for us, in part due to injury, and not featured in our first-team since October 2013, it’s claimed he would have cost us a staggering £11m in total due to his transfer fee and his wages ‘earned!’

Do you think we have any chance of offloading him?
