Sunderland forward El Hadji Diouf is understood to be a January target of new Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce, and it looks as though Sunderland would let Diouf go.

Allardyce took Diouf to Bolton Wanderers during his time as manager at the Reebok Stadium and got the Senegalese Internationals career going again. Newspaper reports are linking Allardyce with a move to sign him again, this time from Sunderland and their caretaker-manager Ricky Sbragia isn’t ruling out the move.

Sbragia told Setanta Sports News: “That is the sort of thing I will leave to the people upstairs to deal with. In general if anybody wants our players, they know where to come.

“If Dioufy wants to go and if Blackburn are interested in him, then fine. I have no problem with that, as long as it is done right.

“If Dioufy wants to go and the deal is right then he can go and I have no problem, but talking to Dioufy recently he seems quite happy.

“He has been off a week due to his wife having a baby, but I think it might just be speculation.

Big Sam has a track record of getting the best out of players, he did this once with Diouf at Bolton so if the price was right he might be able to do it again with him at Ewood Park?!?!
