Sunderland Need To Up Savage Offer

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Robbie Savage is looking like he will be leaving Ewood Park, but manager Mark Hughes has revealed that the offer received from Sunderland is not good enough.

This offer (how much I couldn’t say) from Sunderland has been rejected, and Hughes and Rovers chairman John Williams are holding out for more, something along the lines of £2 million. If this amount isn’t received he will not be sold. Rovers DON’T need to sell Savage, so unless the deal is right for us he will go nowhere.

Hughes told Setanta Sports: “There has been some contact between our chairman John Williams and Sunderland but my understanding is that the offer is way below the value we place on Robbie.

“If they meet our valuation, I`ll look at it, but I won`t allow players to leave if I think that it will weaken us.

“We are about to lose Aaron Mokoena to the African Cup of Nations later this week for the best part of a month, so anything that happens in terms of players leaving will be dictated by me.

“But we are always looking at our options and if things present themselves, we will look at it
