Take-Over Holds Transfer Key

The summer transfer rumour mills are already busy churning out tentative stories about major transfers and who is going where.

Much is regurgitated drivel used to fill the voids in the minds, oops I mean papers, of standard journalists; stories such as Bellamy`s ‘imminent` return and Sav`s proposed move away.

However, amongst the quagmire of spurious claims there is little else about the Rovers. Why is this?

Well I have a theory. The reason we are not seeing Rovers linked with players is because we probably aren`t looking at many at the moment and this, I feel, is because the take-over is closer than we are led to believe.

I could be very wide of the mark but indulge me for a few minutes whilst we explore this notion.

Normally during the weeks post season finale most clubs are attributed interest in a regiment of targets, 90% of whom are just fabricated stories with tenuous links that makes Man City`s takeover look like a formality.

However, we haven`t really seen this at Ewood, with only a handful of names, Bellamy, Zamora, Baird, Haestad, Koumas and Beattie linked. Heck, even a deal for everyone`s favourite Congolese striker has yet to materialise!

I feel this is because the board and indeed Hughes are holding fire until the take-over is complete, hence generating additional revenue, possibly altering targets.

We have heard Williams talking about Hughes` targets and a number of names have been drawn up but I feel little progress is being made until the take-over is finalised.

It makes perfect sense. What would be the point in bringing in someone and then two or three weeks down the line, realise you have additional funds and they could have been used to bring in someone of greater ability?

For these simple reasons I feel that the take-over could be about to happen, sooner than we think which will raise the curtain on us being linked to everyone linked with Spuds.
