Blackburn Rovers defender Andrew Taylor has left Ewood Park for a loan spell with Tranmere Rovers.

The loan (initially for 1-month) will see Taylor gain further first team football (as he has with previous loan spells with the likes of Queens Park Rangers, Huddersfield Town and Crewe Alexandra) as he looks to make that so far elusive breakthrough at Ewood Park. Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore is more than pleased with his capture, admitting that he has been watching the left-back for some time.

Moore told the Official Tranmere Rovers Website: “This is a great signing for the club.

“Andy is a talented attacking left-back who we have been monitoring for some time
.”

Taylor has been among the highly rated, and one for the future school of though for many years now but he is still to make his senior debut for Rovers despite playing at various youth levels for England. With Tranmere short of defensive options, Taylor seems to fit the bill for a player they are looking for and Moore was more than appreciative that Tranmere were allowed to loan him.

He added: “I’m very grateful to Mark Hughes and Blackburn Rovers for allowing him to join us on loan.

“He is a great prospect who is very good on the ball and likes to get forward. He has played at this level before and has been capped by England, so he has good experience for his age
.”

Taylor made his debut as a second half substitute against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday afternoon; Rovers have also given him permission to play in their Second Round FA Cup match.
