Thank You Blackburn!

Its not many times where you can where your Blackburn Jersey in Sydney, and people actually know who the team in the blue and white halves are.

Its not many times where you can walk to a football ground, in Sydney, and see a fair few hundred other fans, wearing the same blue and white halve jersey as yourself.

And its not many times where you get to see your beloved Rovers, 3 times, in the one week.

So this is an open Thank you, to the promoters of the Sydney Festival of Football, to Sydney FC, AEK and Rangers, and to our beloved Rovers for making the trek to Sydney, and participating in this tournament. Whilst we can only wish Blackburn are invited again next year, we can only be happy that we did see our superstars in action, not once, not twice, but three times.

Sure we didnt win the tournament, but, our boys did their best, played some entertaining football, and ended up with a win against the hosts!

A special thanks must go out to the following, and for the following reasons

El Hadji Diouf- The 3 days have changed my total mindset on Diouf. El Hadji was always the first to sign jerseys and the last to leave. Even on Wednesday night, when everbody else was tucking into their post match feed, Diouf was outside, signing and taking photos in the pouring rain. On match day he would do the same. There were 3 or 4 Senegalese fans who summed it up, one was wearing a Senegal Jersey, one was wearing a liverpool jacket and the final a Rovers scarf. Who do you follow one asked, they replied, nobody, we follow Diouf!

Chris Samba- Another whose off-field performances deserve a wrap. Chris was always available for photos, spending at least an hour on Day 3 with anybody who wanted a photo, and the same on previous days.

Michel Salgado- Whilst everybody else would run straight into the sheds after being substituted, Michel ran straight to the Rovers faithful, chatting with anybody who wanted a chat, and signing away. A class act

Pascal Chimbonda- The Peoples favourite. Pascal was hilarious, he would crack jokes, have a laugh, do some ball tricks infront of us, and always respond. Well done

Last but not least, Sammy Allardyce. The big man copped a bit of tongue in cheek, and was more then willing to reply. However, he was accesible for 30 or so minutes prior to every game, signing jerseys and taking photos.

A great 3 days it was, one myself and Adam will definately treasure for many years to come!
