That Key Day In April For Rovers

Blackburn Rovers suffered the heartache of FA Cup Semi Final defeat against Chelsea towards the end of last season, but since then it has been full steam ahead for Rovers.

Rovers won over a lot of fans that day, and it is still painful to think back to that match knowing that Rovers should have gone on to face Manchester United in the FA Cup Final, which could now see Rovers as the reigning FA Cup holders as opposed to tomorrow’s Premiership opponents Chelsea?!?!

It was a very sad day for Rovers, but seems to have been a day that has kicked Rovers up another level, with a new found confidence and belief found within the squad that has seen Rovers unbeaten since, and manager Mark Hughes feels that this has proved a turning points, maybe even ultimately be a blessing in disguise.

Hughes told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “In fairness, it was a day which I think was key for us, because we went up against a very good Chelsea side and certainly in the second half, played our part and even dominated a very good team.

“The confidence we got from that, even though we didn’t win the game, has helped us to go on the run we’ve been on.

“I sense there’s a different mentality in the dressing room where we expect to play well and we expect to win games.

Rovers fans knew what Rovers were capable of long before that Semi Final, but during that and the matches after others have seen this as well, with more than a few people’s heads being turned and eyes opened to what Rovers are all about, and they aren’t simply a “bullyboy team.”
