It’s a team news bonanza on a Friday afternoon with the big news being that the Kong is back in the match day squad.

Captain Chris has been missing in recent weeks and fears were that his exclusion has been on the grounds that he was looking to leave.

But fear not, Kong is back in the fold and further good news comes in the form of the improved recovery of fellow defender Gael Givet.

Kean told Rovers Official Website – ‘We’ve got Chris Samba and Gael Givet back in full training’

‘We didn’t pick up any injuries from the other night so it’ll certainly be the most expansive squad we can select from.

‘Having Samba back is a massive boost for us. It is no secret what he brings to the team.

‘He’s a monster on the pitch with his physical presence. But it isn’t only that, it is his desire to go and win football matches. He brings a different atmosphere in the place when he’s in the dressing room and pulls on that shirt he changes and becomes a real focused individual, so we’ve missed him and the sooner we can get him back on the pitch the better.

‘Gael came back in, he looks refreshed, he looks energetic, I think we saw the real Givet again against Sheffield Wednesday, committed, flying into tackles, talking to not only Grant Hanley but even Jason Lowe who hadn’t played in that position before. Gael spoke to him and kept him right all through the game.’

The only sore point is that Ryan Nelsen will require a late fitness check after playing the full 90 minutes against Aston Villa last weekend.

Kean added – ‘With Ryan he is finding that there is a bit of pain in his knee from the Villa game so he’ll be assessed’

‘He started training with us and felt it a bit so hopefully that’ll settle down, if he doesn’t make this game it won’t be a long term one.’

The manager is expected to from: Robinson, Bunn, Salgado, Ribeiro, Hanley, Givet, Samba, Olsson, Anderson, Emerton, Hoilett, Rochina, Dunn, Pedersen, Petrovic, Lowe, Nzonzi, Goodwillie, Roberts, Formica, Blackman.
