The Bom Bom Gong for Howler of the Season

In previous season’s the winners of this particular awards have been a spectacular combination of own goals and red cards.

But this time out the Howler of the Season has been an actual deliberate decision which is a first for the Vital Blackburn End of Season Awards.

Although votes came in for Chris Samba’s red card at home to Sunderland and for Paul Robinson’s trip on Hernandez against Man United there was only going to be one winner.

Yes, it happened back in December but it’s still very fresh in the memory.

The Bom Bom Gong for Howler of the Season goes to – Venky’s decision to sack Sam Allardyce and appoint Steve Kean.

Back then it sent shockwaves round the Premier League.

Venky’s new to football and to club ownership took their first big decision in removing the man with a big reputation (and a big ego) and appointing his third in command into the hot seat.

Kean had no experience as a manager and although only a temporary appointment it has since led to his instalment as a permanent fixture.

As far as howlers go this spells it out nicely – Kean has been in the Rovers manager’s chair for six months and still hasn’t won over the Rovers faithful for one reason or another.
