The Current State- Where to Now……

With the first thread, The Current State, proving to be a massive hit on the site, I decided to bring up a second article, to delve into the where to now part of the article. (as well as to show that I wasnt being a bludger in not writing a match report and passing it on, I didnt watch the game!!!!!)

So where to now. Well we know that Steve Kean has the reigns. And we know that there are a few players who most would agree need to be moved on, A) to free up some wages and B) to clear the dead wood.

The following players are likely to be moved on

A) Pascal Chimbonda- Started of well, then his career at Blackburn fizzed out. I believe something happened behind the scenes, which is a shame as on his day, Pascal was a good player. The new manager also has said he is not part of his plans, so look for a cut price move for Chimbo. Lets remember him for his celebrations after his goal against Burnley

B) Vince Grella- As much as I hate to say it, Vince, time to go. Started of the season well, playing 10 odd games and being pivotal in midfield, but yet again injury has struck. Look for a 2 million pound move to Turkey, or West Ham.

C)Zurab/Righters- 2 players who have faded out, and are probably on half decent wages

D) Gael Givet- Wants to go home, and his performances all season have showed his mind is not in the right place. Such a shame as on his day, he is arguably better then both Samba and Nelsen (dare i say it)

E)Benjani- Unless he is on a pay as you play deal, Benjani needs to go. Fullstop. No questions asked

F) Jason Brown- Poor attitude, needs to go

I think these 7 players will definately find new homes. The following players have a point to prove

A) Jason Roberts- Appeared to breathe a new life under the new manager, which ended 5 minutes into starting against West Ham with an injury. Jason will be Kean (get it…) to prove he is the main man…despite what some might think

B)Chris Samba- Will he or wont he. Personally, I think it was a passionate plea for the club to show some ambition and stability, however, with talks he has been asking out all year, kind of gets you thinking…

C)Steve Nzonzi- Really fallen out of favour, injured or not. Sam said he had an attitude problem, he needs to sharpen up as a fit Nzonzi holding the midfield is vital for Blackburn to secure there Premier League status.

And for what is needed

A Striker- Boy do we need a striker who can put the ball in the back of the net. Some want a proven and trusted Robbie Keane, whilst some are going more exotic, Spanish or South American. Regardless of who it is, Blackburn need a striker, and must sign one.

An Attacking Minded Midfielder- We do not need another future Patrick Viera, I believe we have 7 of those on our books. We need someone who can move that ball sharply, and feed our striker/s. And pinch in with a few goals from midfield

A Left Back- Givet wants out, and Olsson is not a left back. Final. We need someone experienced. I would rather an experienced back 4 with youth and flair in midfield. We need to be solid and play no nonsense football in defence.

The question of who is available for these positions, is left to the forums, as we could argue endlessly.

This leaves us to one post, the managerial post. Steve Kean. He is the manager until the end of the season. Hate it or Like it, thats the case. What should happen is we should get a technical advisor. Somebody who is experienced and can guide Steve Kean into the post. Who can play that role, I believe a certain manager who finds himself staring the sack at the moment might be more then capable of that, having played the role at other clubs. And if this doesnt happen, and Venkys really are after attacking football, Rafa Benitez is the man.

So thats the where to now, lets hope next time we get together, we will have 3 points after beating WBA……lets hope
