The Morning After

The last few days have been a whirlwind and speculation has been gathering pace about who is the man to replace Mark Hughes at Blackburn Rovers. Initially it was thought Sam Allardyce was the nailed on favourite for the job but it has now emerged that the Rovers board have a shortlist of two to start with… Paul Ince and Alan Shearer.

Now it is merely speculation but Paul Ince has emerged as the leading contender according to various media sources.

Ince has just taken MK Dons to promotion from League 2 and won the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. That followed on from his first achievement in management which was the miraculous survival of Macclesfield in the football league, trust me that was miraculous.

Ince may now be fast-tracked into the Premier League, much quicker than many thought, with a three year deal being allegedly discussed by Blackburn.

Rovers are not thought to have made an approach yet, as Ince is on holiday, but in my eyes this is the kind of appointment we need to make, a big name in football with bags of potential. If Ince was the guy he would get my backing.

Alan Shearer’s name has also been mentioned but it remains to be seen whether he is interested or whether he has the capabilities of being a full time manager at a high level.

Either way, it’s definitely better than McClaren!!!
