The Blackburn run in the League Cup is continuing for at least one more round after the second round win against Crewe at Ewood Park on Tuesday.

After coming back from two-down Blackburn recovered to lead three-two before Crewe forced extra time, but Rovers eventually won through to the third round with a four-three win.

Bingham put Crewe ahead from 30-yards before Dagnall stunned Ewood with a second shortly before half time. Blackburn were back in it when Akpan got one back just before the break.

Wharton first senior goal for Blackburn levelled it up midway through the second half before Conway’s volleyed had Rovers ahead for the first time with two-minutes to play.

Crewe forced extra time through when Dagnall got his second when firing home from 20-yards but in this extra half an hour Duffy, who had been the villan this season with three own goals already, was the hero as he headed the Blackburn winner on 97-minutes.

Accrington V Burnley 19:45
Fulham V Middlesbrough 19:45
Morecambe V Bournemouth 19:45
Sunderland V Shrewsbury 19:45

Some very high scoring matches, with an upset or two as well with the biggest of Tuesday night being the West Brom exit to Northampton.

After an extra time two-two draw the match needed penalties with Northampton going through four-three with another penalty shootout needed for Derby to see off Carlisle after a one-one draw at the iPro Stadium. The Rams eventually winning 14-13!

Premier League side Watford also bowed out after a two-one Vicarage Road defeat to League 1 side Gillingham but most other Premier League and Championship sides advanced and quite comfortably from potential banana skins really.
