The Shock Tactic……

So it all started over a friendly conversation on Facebook. Sasman and SoCal Rover discussing a few issues about our beloved club. Then, something struck our minds…

Too many times, we have been too predictable in our football this season. Long ball up the pitch to Kalinic or Roberts, with Dunny and Andrews attempting to pounce of the first touch. This has been the key in many games against teams around the same level as us. At times it has worked, other times, the opposition just managed to flood the box, similar to what we do….

Now the Shock Tactic….

Hear us out!

With the emergence of Phil Jones, Hanley and the ever present Gael Givet, it leaves us with 5 solid central defenders once we add in The Admiral and the Wall of Congo. The performances of Phil Jones prove to me that he deserves a first team spot. Though who must make way?

After discussion with dear pal SoCal Rover, the thought came to mind, why not return Chris Samba as a make shift forward, in the games where Allardyce indeed does deploy the long ball tactics. Imagine the panic and effect the Wall of Congo has on the unexpecting opposition defence. With the range of strikers on the market either over priced, or not any better then what we have, why waste the little funds we have, when the solution could be hovering within our squad.

Now dont get me wrong, its not the tactic for 38 games a year, more so against the teams like Birmingham, Stoke, Fulham and co, teams who will camp their defence when we do deploy the long ball tactics. Samba could prove to be the thorn in their defence, allowing Kalinic and Dunn to run off the big man…

Crazy, not really, Sam did deploy this as an emergency tactic, but it might just be something worth looking into again!!

The debate will continue, but why not!!
