The Time For Talking Stops

We can talk up Blackburn Rovers all we want, manager Mark Hughes and the players can say how confident they are of overturning the UEFA Cup deficit all they want, but now the talking stops.

If Rovers want to carry on in this season UEFA Cup (something which I personally feel is crucial for the season, but not exactly essential) then all this talk must be channelled into the right actions, with actions speaking louder than words, and a fabulous night at Ewood Park needed if we are to overturn the 2-0 deficit from the UEFA Cup first round first leg in Greece.

We all know that this will NOT be easy, as we had the first leg, however, the complacency factor was a major one in the first leg defeat. This could be the wake up call we needed and SHOULD have sent a real message to the players, who despite the defeat to Portsmouth after have responded well on the whole but now a MASSIVE effort is needed this Evening against Giorgos Donis’ Larissa, it is now make or break.

Personally I am FULLY convinced that we will witness a memorable Ewood Evening and Rovers WILL overturn the advantage that Larissa have. Patience may be the key tonight, but with a partisan Ewood crowd with an atmosphere similar to that generated against Bayer Leverkusen last season, unlike that Evening we WILL take our chances and the Evening will not end in heartbreak.

However, should the unthinkable happen and we don’t come back and do (god forbid!) crash out, although this is a MAJOR blow to our season it WON’T be a terminal blow as we will still have plenty to play for this season, in what should be another superb one. But this WON’T happen anyway will it!!!
