Most of you should know the rules by now guys. But for those of you that just don’t listen or have amnesia here we go –

I will pick 3 Rovers players from the weeks game(s) that have had good weeks for whatever reason (the winners) and 3 that have had bad weeks (the losers). This week’s only game was thed 1-1 hone draw with Fulham.

Simple, you ready? right lets go.

WINNERS

STEVEN REID –
A great game this week by Steven as he showed us what he is all about. Strength, pace and drive were all evident in his display and he enhanced his reputation by being involved in anything attackingly decent that Rovers did at Ewood.

We need to see more of this but this is a good starting point.. let him kick on.

STEPHEN WARNOCK –Nice work from the the ‘PH’ Stephen as he looked pacy and solid at left back. Restricting Fulham’s attack whilst also ram raiding down the left to help the improving Morten Gamst Pedersen out. If he keeps this up he should get a look in to the England squad…

But knowing our luck he won’t.

MORTEN GAMST PEDERSEN –Yes his crossing was very hit and miss but he looked very dangerous and obviously provided the goal as well. His free kicks looked a constant source of danger and he has a verve in his play that just wasn’t there in the early part of the season.

Whoever said he needed a goal was right. He is starting to look like Morten 2005… finally.

LOSERS

BENNI MCCARTHY –
2nd week in a row for Benni Mac I am afraid. He did nothing of real note in the game against Fulham. He did his fair share of running but didn’t have a shot that I remember nor did he get into that 6 yard box enough to do what he does best. One particular example was a great cross from Stephen Warnock that no-one eve threatned to get on the end of.

Come on Benni, bust a gut to get in the box and the goals will come like they did last year. We’ve seen the skill, now lets see the passion.

TUGAY – As much as I love the maestro he put in a poor showing on Saturday. His passing was a little slack and he can’t cover as much ground as he used to, he is sadly starting to show his age. He lasted about an hour and did show glimpses of the great work he normally provides but nothing he tried in the attacking half came off.

The legs may have finally caught up with him, if this is his final season let me be the first to say it has been one hell of a ride.

SANTA CRUZ –I hate having to put him in here as I can see the effort and I can see the benefit he has to the team. All striker shave little barren spells in front of goal, all he has to do is glimpse to the side of him and see Benni to realise this. I won’t bad mouth his play as he doesn’t deserve that, instead I will say what needs to be said…

One goal and the confidence will come flooding back.

Well thats your lot for this week. Let battle commence no doubt as some will agree and others won’t. Whatever you think all I ask is that you enjoy.
