28 year old David Thompson is hoping he can put his injury nightmares behind him and get back on tract following what he hopes will prove to be successful treatment from the highly respected doctor Hans-Muller Wolfhart who has saved the careers of many top sports stars.

Thompson, who has been out of action for over five months with various knee injuries, has had three sets of knee operations which failed to cure the problems.

However he has been undergoing a ‘strengthening course of treatment during the summer under the instruction of German specialist Wolfhart.

The former Liverpool and Coventry player is said to be progressing and could be near to a return and had a run out in the reserves.

Thompson said in an interview with the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: ‘Every morning before training I now do weights for 45 minutes on my knee to make sure it stays strong and that’s something I’ve got to maintain for the rest of my career. But, touch wood, it seems to be working and my leg now feels stronger than it has ever done.’

Top player, lets hope he is soon gracing the Premiership again.
