The dust has barely settled on the 2016-17 season but football never sleeps does it. So, plans are afoot, the first of these falling into place, as far as Blackburn’s pre-season preparations are concerned ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

It will be here before we know it and a trio of testers for Rovers ahead of the 2017-18 League One season has seen pre-season friendlies against Barrow AFC, Morecambe and Grimsby announced.

Blackburn will head to the Furness Building Society Stadium for this meeting with the Non-League side on Saturday 8th July, kick off has been confirmed as 3pm.

Rovers have also announced games with League Two sides Morecambe at the Globe Arena and a trip to Blundell Park to face Grimsby on Friday 21st July and Tuesday 25th July, respectively. They’ll both have 7:30pm kick offs.

Of course, as with any pre-season friendly, the main thing to get from these is a challenge and the continuation of fitness being built up – such games could always be subject to change though.

But, as things stand, these pre-season friendlies will form a phase of boss Tony Mowbray’s preparations as he looks to guide Blackburn to success in League One next season following relegation from the Championship.
